When I was little, it was the only major department store within walking distance (Toys R Us was veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery far away at that time, still is) and since there was no internet back then and not much on during the summer days on TV other than game shows and talk shows, I used to spend a LOT of time just hanging out inside the store. Specifically, the toy and electronics sections. And I always loved how dark they kept their electronics section... Wish our's was that dark. :p Also bought various games there, sometimes, with just the change in my non-piggy bank (actually, it was just a can) and the cashiers were always glad for the change. Then there was the anticipation after my purchase, of waiting for my game to show up on that magical conveyor belt from the stock room...! XD I also once ordered a game from their catalouge (FFMQ) and they helped me localize a copy of Mario 2 in a far away store for me to FINALLY buy! XD I have a lot fond memories of that store... ^^; A lot. XD

Yes, Service Merchandise! It used to be across the street from my house! I whiled away HOURS in that place playing Mario World before I owned it. Actually, beat it there first. :p I also spent a summer camping at the store waiting for Mario 2 to come out--without any idea when it was coming out, of course. XD Sadly, the store is now a 99c Stuff.
