Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon JPN
Some give-and-take from the Japanese-developed EDF games, but overall I liked it. Anti-climactic ending a bummer though.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. I also ordered a bunch of spare/alternate parts from lizardlick but they're taking their sweet time restocking a couple seimitsu parts for the order to ship. Modded 360 d-pad actually works surprisingly well though, but a stick will have more feel to it anyway.

PS. Been enjoying the Eschatos pack a lot for a week now. Great games, though eschatos does some pointless things with 3D and JSS gets a huge difficulty spike near the end (pretty much perfect otherwise though)

I *really* like Fast Striker - it's just a very good shmup, you don't need to make any "good for an indie" excuses for it

So many shmups coming out now, hard to choose what to get.. then again, I'll probably be satisfied if Strania and the other XBLA releases turn out as good as they seem to be.

I believe after I handed the reins to Justin he went and gave them to Smithee, then disappeared off the net. I had a few peeks after that, and I believe it simply died.

A shame, but that's how it goes.

I did mind the overhead stages, but I don't think that I believed they were nearly as bad as most people do. A lot of people harp on them like they completely ruin the game, but I still found it totally playable.

As for the last stage - I wouldn't say it's so hard as I would that it's tedious. It's not that hard to beat without dying but you've really got to be patient and keep taking potshots at the things on the ship you need to kill before you take it down.
