Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I really enjoyed the Wii version, waggle and all, so I'd say go for it with the PS2 version. It's a little bit behind in the action-adventure gaming genre now that games like God of War have come in and changed things up a bit, but I still hold it in high regard.

Well, that's only my opinion. If you look on GameFAQs, you'll see a whole bunch of 8-10 scored reviews for it, and even GameSpot gave it a 7.3. Some people seem to enjoy it, but I'm not one of them. I wanted to, and couldn't.

My complaint with Rygar is that it simply isn't fun. It's technically solid, with great graphics, music and sound, but extremely boring. The world is almost empty, with the occasional weak enemy popping out of the ground. You spend more time smashing pottery and scenery (to release evil spirits hiding inside them.. what?) than you do smashing enemies. When you can find it, the combat is repetitive, and enemies are a chore to deal with--not entertaining, not challenging, just there in your way. Add in lots of backtracking through the already boring levels, a bad camera, laughable dialog, and really cheap bosses, and it's a game that just isn't any fun.

The end credits have a nice song and CGI sequence, but you can watch that on YouTube without slogging through this snooze-fest. On the plus side, it's incredibly short, so the pain doesn't last that long.
