You see, Armored Core suffers from one very simple issue in the AC3 saga -- ACs are even more ridiculously strong than MTs (the standard enemies), making missions cakewalks, but the Arenas quite stupid. For instance, I have and am facing in Silent Line a floating AC with double grenade launcher arms that deal >1200 AP damage to even heavily-armored ACs. Meanwhile, weapon arms have 0 defensive points (how about that!) and floating leg bases are also pretty shit in the defensive department (and I can't raise this by equipping heavier, better-armored core, head, etc. parts or shields on the shoulders, because floating ACs suck at weight capacity, too!). This means that my opponent tends to do stupid amounts of damage to me with the same dual grenade launchers. They are also pretty hard to dodge (for the player) and slow to reload, meaning that my opponent can usually kill me. AIs also have limitless energy, meaning that my opponent can boost around the arena like a bee on cocaine and dodge things way too easily.
Zaltehook, my opponent in AC2: Another Age, is a dick for another reason. His AC is not superstar-level, but I can only fight him in a mission. This mission has a large number of miniature laser turrets firing on you at all times. Translation: Heavily weighted in the AI's favor.
