I can understand a lot of complaints against MGS4, and the puny codec was sad. But I still really enjoyed it, even tho, as was the case with all the previous games, I didn't understand a lick of the story. Maybe it isn't fair for me to give my opinion. Most people waited years between these games, while I had absolutely no wait time between them at all. Most people were anticipating MGS4 so much, tho it's no wonder it disappointed them.
Still, the game actually had plenty of memorable moments. The microwave hallway and the final boss fight will no doubt stay with me for a long time. And the thing is, despite having only played the first game for the first time only weeks prior, the return to Shadow Moses almost made me want to cry. If I had been with the series since the start, I won't lie in saying that whole act would probably had me in nostalgia induced tears. The final boss fight would have no doubt have been even more emotional than it already was as well.
Sigh... what could have been... but then again, if I had been with it from the start I probably wouldn't have liked the game as much as I did, like the rest of the long time fanboys.
Damned if I did, damned if I didn't, I suppose.
