Yep that last level is very mean. I only barely beat it when I was trying to get across that spider and died just when I reached the checkpoint. The last boss is very easy thankfully.

Gah that boss rush. I was stuck on the 5th boss too. I was going to beat it without using the continue feature, but I changed my mind after I felt i was going nowwere.

Now I am inside the ship, which is the last level of the game.

Good luck with Gradius II. It's a tough shooter, but very fun if you can beat it. The last level is very nasty though. What level are you on?

I never got past that. From what I remember there is a nasty little trick to the final level that requires you to have bought the levitating stick waaaay back in world six to skip that entire section and reach the final boss.
