'Darkwing Duck' Review

Any child of the 1990s who grew up wide-eyed on Saturday morning and after-school cartoons was presented a veritable feast of quality programming from which to choose, especially of the action variety: DuckTales, TaleSpin, Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Ranger...

Congrats on the parenthood! It's good to meet another parent gamer, on the backloggery, I have two of them myself (both a boy and girl just like you!) although mine are not twins. My oldest boy is 8 and my daughter is about to turn 2. It really is something special having a boy and girl, but you for at the same time has got to be a challenge! I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors. It's definitely really tough at times being a parent, however I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world and it's truly taught me about the really special things in life.

I have introduced my kids to gaming as well! It makes me feel old, having grown up with the NES but seeing those two play Mario Kart 8 together is quite endearing.

I haven't been updating my Backlog much lately as I have been preparing for and am now at last the proud papa of twins-- a boy and a girl. They are two cute little munchkins and I'm excited to introduce them to gaming one day.

Yoshi's New Island is not a bad game! But I will say that it's the weakest game out of the Yoshi's Island trio.

Mainly because the majority of the level design is really simple and yes, the music is....something to behold. However, there's nothing particularly wrong with the game itself. Basically, if you like the Yoshi's Island gameplay, you'll be right at home here. There are some odd changes to the mechanics like Yoshi having a slight delay with egg launching, and having a much heavier hover jump but the levels seem to balance out the new changes quite well.

Overall, I enjoyed it a fair bit, I didn't have big expectations from it but was pleasantly entertained by it. Don't take the internet's word for this game too seriously.

I see you're at Dahm Tower. I wish you luck through it, it can prove somewhat troubling, and if you're not careful or fully powered, Dark Fact can be quite the meance. Make sure you're well-prepared. You'll be able to stomp over the end if you are.

Dude, the Factory world in DKCR is fucking amazing. Such brilliant design. The one with the hands stands out to me.

And all of the minecart and rocket levels in that game are brilliant. Really really need to get Tropical Freeze.

Ooh, Donkey Kong Country Returns!

One of the more unexpected childhood revivals I adored on the Wii, I actually just finished Tropical Freeze the other day on Wii U and it was just as fantastic as Returns was.

So glad that Retro Studios is continuing the legacy of the Rareware trilogy with another set of excellent platformers.
