TLJ has the better overall experience (story, characters, developments etc) but Dreamfall has it's own charm and far superior graphics (which makes banners and stuff a lot easier ). TLJ does have the more complex story, but it's so engaging with wonderful characters that it isn't too hard to grasp when you get going. Dreamfall does 'technically' follow on from TLJ but there aren't many crucial follow overs from the previous story so you can play the games in any order. Though when you play TLJ it should reveal/explain a lot of back story on April (and her general motivations) and the various nuances that can be found in Arcadia.
Washing line + Rubber duck + clamp (+ railway tracks) = win! That's pretty near the beginning (the game is quite long) but still one of the funnier puzzles to be found.
p.s. Play The Longest Journey! Plus, for £2 that's the greatest deal EVER! While you're at it, play; Ico Grandia & Legend of Dragoon. All fantastic games.
