I play this maybe once a week, but so far, I like it. Wishing it wasn't so glitchy though.

FFXIV is up against a lot of problems, but honestly, I've enjoyed it for what it is so far. When FFXI launched, there wasn't a gold standard to measure MMOs by... now there's WoW, and even though I haven't played it (what I've seen doesn't appeal to me), people simply have a lot more expectations for MMOs today. So, a lot of the vitriolic hate you're seeing is probably largely based on the fact that there are established, polished alternatives.

That aside, what is the problem? After thinking on it a while back, I narrowed down FFXIV's issues to two key categories...

1. Lack of content. This is probably to be expected of a newborn MMO, though I have no experience with other MMOs at this early stage to make an informed comparison. Basically, there are the three starter cities, the very large areas outside them, and two other large regions... the northernmost of which has a grand city that isn't even accessible yet. The storyline isn't all available yet (not unexpected, I shouldn't think). There are some quests related to your job classes, but only one per class... outside of those and storyline, I'm not aware of any actual quests yet. Guildleves, which are sort of your main leveling method, sort of have a story setup, but you redo them again and again and while they are adding more, there isn't a huge variety. Obviously, the nice thing is that as an MMO, you know it will change. But some of the awe and wonder of the vastness of Vana'diel is gone due to Eorzea's current size and content offerings.

2. Almost every other major problem is related to one thing: measures to curb gil-selling. Server confirmations have made menus laggy, and conveniences like mailing items and auction houses simply don't exist. Fortunately, the menu lag has been almost entirely solved the first December update. The clunky bazaar system now has a search feature which I haven't had a chance to check out myself, but hopefully will make finding items you want actually feasible.

If you haven't heard, Square-Enix has been shockingly honest about the game's negative reception. They even recently had a major staff overhaul, including a new producer and director, and won't charge for monthly play until people are happy. Who knows, maybe with the staff change, the things that seemed unchangeable will actually be fixed. It will be interesting to see what happens. There's a long road ahead, but I'm fully confident that in the end, Eorzea will become something very worthwhile.

This has been my first experience with Professor Layton but I've really enjoyed it. It feels like it's quite a short game but, in fairness, I've played it for five or six hours solid every day for the past four days. The next few games have a lot more puzzles, so I'm really looking forward to them.

And the animation cinematics... they're just amazing. Could watch 'em for hours.

Oblivion always drove me nuts because the bandits at the start of the game ended up using a small fortune in gear at the end of the game. That annoys me, bandits should never be armed with more than rusty swords!

Demon's Souls is an A+ gayme. haven't really been able to touch anything else cuz I just wanna play it.

I've tried to play Oblivion like 400x and given up. Morrowind also. I guess my mind can't comprehend why I don't absolutely love a game that sounds perfect to me on paper. I just find them so dreadfully boring. I can never get more than 1 hour into them

I'm glad you love dr who. Just be ware of the price of the dvds which are overpriced. 60 bucks for a series set. They call it series in UK which is what we call season here in NA.

I think you should torrent the episodes if u want to see them, no harm in that. I do that all the time when i want to catch up with my episode I missed out on like V and lost and south park.

Yes I was referring about the new Monster hunter tri which comes out in a little under a week. You are half right there is split screen multiplayer.

The split screen multiplayer in MH tri is for arena only. However if you and your husband have 2 wii's and 2 copies, you can play together via online but why would you want to do that. HAHA..

Sorry to disapoint you but MH has always been multiplayer online or via psp via ad-hoc. Don't let it disapoint you. The game is totally worth the cash and is a lot of fun adn there's a ton of stuff.
