To old fans like myself, some would say Metroid Prime Remastered is just another cash grab by Nintendo, but I see it as a way for Nintendo to introduce new fans into the Metroid series when one would have a difficult time trying to find a relatively cheap copy online for the original Nintendo GameCube.

I got both Prime and Prime 2 for NGC, Prime 3 and even the Prime Trilogy for Wii (replaying the first two titles with Wii control schemes made it more fun). So I wouldn't feel like dishing out for a Switch version. To this day when I feel like retro-ing up, they'd be what I enjoy playing from time to time (among other titles).

Well, you’ll be delighted to know that YU’s sequels/spinoffs AND KitN all hit switch in Japan over the last few years. I have a feeling that if this early access period for YU does well that we’ll start to see more of them.

Speaking of YU, the port is excellent. It’s not full of a ton of new features, but what’s on offer polishes up an already excellent experience. I think my favorite of the bunch is the “Image” soundtrack mode, which are tracks that were composed before translating them down to GBA music. Think Amano’s Final Fantasy art before being translated to NES pixel art, but for music.

I honestly can't remember who it was that introduced me to Rosenkreuzstilette, but I know it was someone on YouTube forever ago. I just remember loving the idea of a magical Mega Man clone. Then suddenly, I get a notification at like 2am a few days ago that a close friend of mine gifted me the sequel for no reason in particular. It was a nice surprise to wake up to!

Cierra, eh? Well, I seem to recall she's the only confirmed adult in the party, for whatever that's worth. She's also my first pick, but I didn't really min-max my decisions and wound up with Serene.

Riviera was certainly an interesting game. The story wasn't all that gripping since you could tell what was going to happen from extremely early on. However, I don't think that it really needed an innovative narrative to keep players engaged since its unique approach to dungeon design and combat were enough to keep me hooked throughout.
