I also see what you mean with the hoverboard, having also now encountered that Does not handle at all, grinding doesn't work (though you need to do it in some missions you just fall to your death) and it feels so slow to actually use it's almost pointless. Hit anything and you take damage, fall off and get the guards on you!
I was a little wary of the open-world element to RoSaGa, but after getting into the game I thought it worked quite well. As apposed to other RPGs where you get sent to Dungeon X with Level Y monsters, I liked the general monsters level with you aspect which really helped fit into the open world idea. I always like the SaGa games battle mechanics and RoSaGa was no different, glimmering techs, casting spells, comboing stuff and working on your weapons/equipment.
It is a shame most people scorn the SaGa series, simply because they offer something different and unknown to most players; they can't be bothered to learn the systems and give up after an hour or so When you start playing them they are all great RPGs!
