silent bomber for ps1 needs to be on the list, its an action game but instead of guns or swords you use different types of bombs to destroy enemies. it has great graphics and a really good soundtrakc and its hard as hell towards the end. ive hardly seen any people who know of it.

Hopefully this doesn't come off as advertising, but this reviewer [Link] covers a lot of old-but-great titles. I've played StarTropics, Metal Storm, and Rocket Knight Adventures because of him and have enjoyed them immensely.

Also, add Big Bang Mini to your list of DS hits.

Underrated games? I know of several for PS2.

Devil Kings - Pretty much a Dynasty Warriors clone cross with Devil May Cry over the top combat. Great for any fan of the genre.
Ghosthunter - Nice action horror game that pretty much is Ghostbusters in all but name, and even then its close.
Drive to Survive (US) / Mashed: Fully Loaded (PAL) - Plays like the classic Micro Macines games, but with weapons. A must for anyone with a multitap and some friends willing to play.
Soul Nomad & the World Eaters - A Nippon Ichi SRPG that gets overlooked because of the Disgaea series, but IMO this is the best game they released for the system. The combat system has been changed for this game, with combat being closer to Advance Wars or similar strategy games. You choose the members of a squad and move them around the field, but AI will handle combat once you tell them to fight, with it depending on where you place a class and what enemies they are up against.
The Red Star - Pretty much a must have for any fan of the classic beat em ups and bullet hell shooters, this game manages to combine the two genre into one kick arse action game.
Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Duelists of The Roses - Unlike most of the Yu-Gi-Oh games, this doesn't play like the card games, but instead a turn based strategy game (and not the Dungeon Dice Monsters style either). You move your units around the field, terrain making a difference on both movement and stats, and try to beat 20 different battles.

I'd like to add Chulip to the list of PS2 games. It's kind of a hard game to describe, but basically your mission is to kiss everyone in town. Hilarious, wacky, and completely unique in terms of anything ever released on Western shores, this game is a blast.

Also noteworthy is The Munchables for Wii. It's kinda like the Katamari Damacy games in that your purpose is to eat stuff until you grow large, but it's also got its own unique system. All in all, it turns out quite fun.

Hardly ever see anyone give Guardian's Crusade props. Glad to see someone else enjoyed it.

And a little note for thsoe who lack some of the systems here.
Ikaruga is also on Dreamcast and XBLA,
Pretty sure Metal Arms was on all three consoles in 6th gen (not just GC/XBox1).
Baroque is also on PS2.

I must say, that I agree on all counts (of games I've played, which is all but a few.) For the PS2, I'd have to add Legaia 2: Duel Saga and Okage: Shadow King.

Legaia (hailed as mediocre, and less fulfilling than the first on PS1) has a great, 'fill you own combo' battle system, and an enjoyable cast and story. True, not much is over the top amazing, but that is one game that is truly enjoyable throughout. I can't think of many that do that.

Okage, as well, is enjoyable all the way through (save one boss). The story and characters really take it home here, with insightful views and quirky NPCs everywhere. The graphical style utilized its early gen status so very well. Great times.

I love the groovy underrated games!

I think I might have a recommendation for the DS. Magical Starsign is a good RPG, with nice 2D sprites. Plays like Final Fantasy games. It got 7/10+ ratings from GameSpot and IGN (IIRC), but it's not very well known.

I'm not very sure if this counts, but Suikoden Tierkreis is an amazing RPG, but since it's not related and plays differently than other Suikoden games, it automatically didn't get much fans. 108 playable characters, quite a bit of side quests to do, 40+ hour long main story, and an interesting one at that.

I'd like to see Sonic Battle added.

It's a fighting game for the GameBoy Advance, and calling it Smash Bros Lite wouldn't be entirely inaccurate. It might lack the depth of Smash, but it's very easy to pick up and play without having to learn a bunch of inane button combos as in other fighters.

It also has a relatively good story revolving around a (mysterious) robot that Sonic finds washed up on a beach that is, naturally, powered by Chaos Emeralds, and posseses the ability to learn every move in the game.

I'd like to nominate Black Sigil: Blade Of The Exiled.

Sure, it has it's glitches and problems (the encounter rate annoyed a lot of people), and all around lacks a bit of polish; but if you manage to look past that and the hard beginning (a fact I assume put many people off), there's a fantastic game with an excellent storyline and cast of characters both memorable and believeable.

It makes many a reference to numerous classic RPG's from the SNES era, which when recognized, are bound to leave a grin on your face. I consider it to be somewhat of a diamond in the rough, a bit tough round the edges, but deep down a gem of a game which I consider has gone under the radar due to it's imperfections.

That's my two cents on the subject, also, great idea!
