Yo, I had a really good time with Super Metroid. It took me quite a while to get used to a lot of the mechanics (I'm looking at you wall jumps). I was utterly lost more often than I'd like to admit. But I have really gained an appreciation for the game, it's so well designed and it's insane to me that the game is almost 30 years old. I look back on it with great joy, and will probably start some more metroid games sooner than later. I have played fusion before which I also adore, but I feel like the games are different enough to where I have a hard time saying which one I enjoy more.

I have been planning to watch a speedrun of it while my memory of the game is still fresh. I remember seeing the races on AGDQ years ago and already being amazed by it all. What is your pb?

It's nice that you want to do what you enjoy.

I'm ok. I've just been focusing on other things. Life has kept me a bit busy too, so it's not like I've had too much time to sit and relax playing haha.

It's good to hear from you again after all this time

Oh, hi Rimsala. Sorry for the late reply, haven't been in the mood to play stuff lately and didn't see the comment. How have you been?

I love Orochi 4, it's such a good game! It's all you could want from a Musou game

I can't really say anything about the older games as I haven't played them. I got into this series just a few years ago through Hyrule Warriors Legends, I had tried Pirate Warriors 3 on Vita before but didn't like it... After playing a lot of HW I decided to buy DW8 which was my first Dynasty Warriors game... Since then I've played quite a few of the other Musou games. I ended up rebuying PW3 on Switch later though

I really don't know what to think about SW4 though. It's not a bad game but the game doesn't really motivate me to play more of it

Yes, but I'm kinda torn. I played and beat it a few years ago, only cleared a single route though and yesterday was the second time I kinda felt like replaying it for another route but just like last time... Idk I play it for a bit and then I'm like "this is kinda boring". I can't really put my finger on it though. It's just missing something that other Musou games have

Correct, the later consoles suffer the most, even the ones that came after the PS2, such as the Xbox 360, PS3, Switch, etc. I think that along with added complexity, the quality standards contribute to some of the problems as well.

I totally understand - you have the discs, and you want to play them. Nothing wrong with being a purist! There are many different degrees of purism as well, from zero with emulation on a big flat panel, all the way to unmodded consoles on a CRT via RF. All valid ways to play, indeed the only wrong way is not playing at all. Just make sure to note the problem of your PS2 unit and then sell it if you don't want to keep it, because there are many people who look for broken units to do the HDD mod and play away. I myself look for broken disc reader units of various consoles, not just for the money, but because I don't want to butcher a console with a perfectly good disc reader that would be enjoyed by someone with a disc collection. It's a good feeling to rescue a "junk" unit and make it a working rig again.

I'm really enjoying Circle of the Moon! It's amazing, I just got the jumping boots and wow, fun day of discovery ahead! Such great games, it also looks amazing when dialed in right using the GBI software on the GameCube with OSSC. I'm usually a CRT purist, but since those games were made with a little LCD in mind, nothing wrong with upscaling for a big LCD! I'm loving the game, you must have had lots of fun back then with it! I'm from the DMG Game Boy era, lol, but it was amazing for our time as well.
