Consider Yourself a Hero: Majority of games are beaten
Confused: Playing 10+ games at once
Thank you!!!

And also thank you for the advices!!

Final thought? Honestly, not much different to my thoughts when I first played it but didn't finish it all those years ago. I really really like the game, it is a solid 9/10! There is very little I don't like. The characters are amazing and likeable, some more than others, but all are cool. The soundtrack is really good for a GBA game, and so are the graphics. Especially the animations are fantastic, I can hardly believe what they pulled off on the GBA. I feel like everything is on point in the graphics and audio department. More songs wouldn't have been bad, and the GBA soundchip has its limitations but... hard to complain.
The gameplay is just stellar. I have not played other Fire Emblems yet so I have no idea what to compare it to, but I have played plenty of strategy games and also turn based strategy, and this game managed to continiously stimulate my brain. Love that. I know Tactical RPG is different than turn based strategy, but they both tickle the same itch, and this game is really good at it. The story is nice, a bit convoluded at times, and I am pretty sure they tried to overachieve a bit with the finale. I like fighting a bad guy, and then another one, but the last boss came a bit out of nowhere... so. Also, permadeath is both an incentive to ace each level, but also one of the downsides to the game. I know the newer games removed it and I like that idea. Also because some hit chances are really random. I had enemies hit me repeatedly with 8% hit chance, and I missed an archer twice once with 98% hit chance. That annoyed me. Also, the game is not really random, it has a sort of pseudo-randomness to it. If you do the same moves, the hit chance doesn't matter that much, you always hit or miss in a given circumstance. This helps with replaying the same mission over and over, but can also be annoying.
Still, all in all, I like the game a lot, it was a lot of brainiac fun and I will definitely play more games in the series!

Yes, I agree with you on the Hyrule Field in Twilight Princess. They were going for big, when they missed the point. Hyrule Field in OoT was impressive because it was big, but that feeling can only be achieved once, and since then we had an entire ocean to explore in WW. And that ocean was also filled with secrets and tiny islands. Also, they gave us Termina in between, almost as big as Hyrule Field, but with more stuff to do. Hyrule Field in comparison feels both empty and not as big as the ocean in Wind Waker. So... I know what they were going for, and it's nice that they tried, and I also think many gamers were excited about the possibilities this field seemed to be promising.. but ultimately, they fell short.
So yes, the great ocean beats Hyrule Field from TP anyday, IMO.

I guess they only deprice games that made their mark. Which in turn makes me think, how do Nintendo games always miss the mark? I am really sad about the closure of the 3DS and Wii U eShop, I think there were a lot of cool games that we will not get anywhere else, anytime soon. I'll try to at least get the downloadable little stuff.

Oh, I finish one game, and we immediately have another game we can talk about!

So, I'm liking it quite good so far, the job system sounds really interesting on paper, I just started experimenting with it. So far they did a quite good job in porting the game to the DS, the graphics are nice, the characters have a bit of characterization, and I guess the soundtrack isn't bad either, for now. I'm really at the beginning though, just over 2 hours in, and I think the game will keep me busy for more than 10 times that. I'm also trying to get TriForce Heroes out of the way while I am still in Seoul, so that when I go back home I can continue with Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess HD...and then finally move on to Hyrule Warriors and Breath of the Wild. Maybe I can do that even before the sequel releases, considering it has been delayed. Who knows? Time will tell! =)

Okay but MY twin sister doesn't want to talk to ME because she HATES YOU!

WENDY, I'D FIRE THEM?!

BUT ON THE REALZ?

FFX is good shit. I mean, I fucking cheated to beat it (because ain't nobody got time to grind for gil OR the ability to move on the grid sphere without grinding for move nodes or whatever the fuck it was?! IDK MY BFF JILL) People sort of hated on it? Back in the day? Because it was "too linear" and "not enough town exploration" but come on like, why the fuck do JRPG towns even matter for realz?! There's only so many times I want to listen to rando 8yo villager kid say "I like fruit" or "King Leonard is a buttface!" like STFU. Towns are usually useless with the same god damn "Welcome to Our Town!" BGM Track #42 generic theme playing in every single fucking one.

I finally managed to beat Cog of Destiny!!! I am so damn happy!! =)

Yeah, I changed one unit (replaced Guy with Markus) and the mission went a lot smoother. Also, I started using the items to increase Skill, or Speed, or HP, and that helped too. I started fortifying the starting position and used some units to take out their ballistas. Then turtled back into the start position and the woods near the village. And from there, it still took a couple of tries, but in the end, I prevailed! :D

I am so happy!
And yeah, you are right, just hoarding the items and not using them is pointless. I started using them and they started to help me a lot. I still wait to Level 20 to promote a unit, but that's the only thing I am not using. Everything else is gonna be used up now or soon enough. I have not promoted a single Pegasus Knight yet, I hope I still can. I promoted Heath on his Wyvern though. He is so good now. And I promoted all the Lords. Lyndis in particular is just amazing. I think she can single handedly defeat entire armies. She is soo good and sooo hard to hit.

Yeah, I was also surprised that in Skyward Sword you start with 6 hearts and not 3, but after a few hours of gameplay and the first dungeon especially I understood why. I think I will play the HD remake of the game eventually on switch, but other games come first.

The Wolf Sections are weird in Twilight Princess, yes, but I did not mind them too much. The game was just too easy for me, and Hyrule Field felt so empty and lifeless... Yes, we are at war, yes, enemies about, but damn... there's nothing in those steppes. NOTHING! And all secrets or items you find them seem... desolate. That's my impression at least. After the joy that was the Great Ocean, I had high hopes for this to be good.

Damn, I hope they do another game on an ocean.... Link as a Pirate, wouldn't that be great?

Oh, yeah, being behind in games has its benefits. Also, most games are really cheap by the time I buy them, so that's a plus. And typically they have all the added content and DLC and patches and updates... It really pays off not to be a "Day One" buyer. Even though, for some games, that have special editions that are worth it, it sucks. They become impossible to find... oh well...

I played the first DLC of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe before coming to South Korea (temporarily) and I also was underwhelmed. They are not BAD... but they are not GOOD either... Lets hope the rest will be better!

I did not promote many units. Last time I played Fire Emblem (years ago) I promoted my units too soon and found out they were pretty weak by the end. In the end, the more they level up before promotion, the more levels they get overall, right? So I only promoted those that reached Level 20, and then promoted them at once in order not to lose a single XP.

Is this wrong? I have many units almost at 20 and almost every unit is above level 14, with few exceptions: Nino and some of the units that already start out promoted. Same thing with the upgrade like angels tears and so on... keeping them for the end, or so. Should I not have done that?

Well, on what tier level is Twilight Princess to you?
I liked Skyward Sword, and even though I agree with you, progress is tough at times and Fi is one of the worst companions from any Zelda, I still think there are far worse Zeldas out there. What I did not like about Skyward Sword was the linearity, repeated quests in the same areas that could not have been done or started sooner, the small and empty overworld (compared to Wind Waker or Twilight Princess), the small areas overall and the huge wasted potential of this 1000 years storyline. Also, the repeated fights with the Demon... Also also, while I didn't dislike the motion controls, they were far from perfect and it's much easier and better to push a button. The best combat to date is still the one from Twilight Princess. Followed by The Wind Waker, even though most enemies were super easy to beat. I don't want Zelda combat to become Souls-like, but a bit tougher is okay.

What I liked about Skyward Sword: most of the music, the aesthetics, the boss fights (expect Girahim), the later dungeons (especially the ship!) and some of the new ideas they brought in in the sessions between the dungeons. The Sand Ocean for example was really great.

Hmmm... the list of what I liked seems really short, but I enjoyed the game on a base level overall. The setting was nice, the idea of the flying birds I also liked, the item upgrade system wasn't too bad, the new items were cool... Overall, it was one of the better Zeldas. For me it is an 8.5/10, solid. I give all games a great and some special awards, you can look it up on my Backlog.

I'm not that huge on games any more, I used to do it a lot more when I was younger. But now that I am checking, with the Zelda games I went for a lot more often. I Link's Awakening DX, The Adventure of Link, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.

Yeah, I also would not be very successful as a streamer, I would stream all the old games and not be up to the latest release at all. Assassin's Creed Valhalla? Elden Ring? Destiny 2? I dunno... I will enjoy them in the future maybe, but right now I'm enjoying the old games just as much. No idea why. It was a slow development of just wanting to live the old glories... Understand what made them great and learn from their gameplay ideas.

Oh, and please do try Pikmin! It is an amazing game!! I played the first two games and they were A-MA-ZING!!

Yeah, Korea sounds cool, I just hope the geopolitical situation doesn't get any worse...
I've never been to Seattle, but that is true for most non-European cities! And the last years have not been particularly great for travel....

Yes, Dungeon Master is an old game. I don't recommend trying it if you don't have nostalgia for it. I did and barely managed to go for it...

Yes, lets hope this year is a good one. I hope to finish all the Zeldas I'm missing to Breath of the Wild and maybe beat that one too! I'm at Majora's Mask 3D and TriForce Heroes. Will take at least one of them to Seoul and play the heck out of it! If I manage to do that, I'll be happy!

So yes, lets hope this year is a good one! =)

Okay sorry but I was on a trip to Egypt? To raid some fucking tombs?

Yes

Got caught in an ancient Egyptian trap complete with scorpions and cobras and beetles?

Yes

Took like 10 days to climb out of that hell hole.

But can I just say?

That play by play word for word recreation of that desperate mami to free herself from that fucking old life style?

It moved me to literal tears.

TEARS

I can FEEL the desperation in her words.

I would totally be her.

What the hell made you guys so over it?! This is temporary!
