You know, I did enjoy Xargon, and I'm glad that you'd recommended it. At least, I think you were the one to recommend it... It's very much like Jill of the Jungle in a lot of ways, and while I didn't enjoy it quite as much as I did the Jillogy, it did have little bits here and there that also satisfied my OCD, like finding the objects of power in every episode, even if they didn't actually do anything. The combat was a 2-sided axe for me in that the weaponry was often better (still hated those goddamn rocks), but everything took a lot more hits. Granted, that is because it's more centered around combat, but it didn't quite work as well with the slower speed, or especially the sloppy attack algorithms; some fights against regular enemies could've been decided by tossing some dice. Overall, though, the story was well-written; there were lots of strange new places to explore; and it wasn't too often that it became super frustrating... I'm not sure how hard the last boss was supposed to be, because I'm a terrible hoarder, and I bought myself rapid fire and an invincibility shield that didn't expire before he did.

So, I somehow missed the entire second half of your message. Yeah, I'm not completely in love with Axiom Verge just yet, but the glitch gun is so unique, and encourages experimentation in a way that makes me want to go on, at least for a while longer. It's got everything I like - Platventure, surreal imagery, both bright and dark colors - but it still feels like it's missing... something; I can't figure out quite what it is. Can't get too upset about it, since I got it for free (the ONLY damn reason I'm using the Epic launcher), but my mid-level enthusiasm prior to playing seems to have been appropriate.

Hey! Apologies for the late response. I've been busy with moving and stuff. I should be all good now, though!

I've been hearing similar things from lots of different people. What I don't get is why they decided to make a sequel right now. Like, Kingdom Hearts has always been super corny and stuff. That's probably all fine for someone in their teens, but I can't see anybody in their adulthood seeing it as anything but obnoxious. I can't really see kids or teens today getting into it either because they probably didn't grow up with the original games and trying to understand and follow the story will probably burn away at least half of your brain cells. Endless Jess made a really good video about Kingdom Hearts and it pretty much sums up most of my feelings about it. Here it is: [Link]

I haven't seen Working!! yet but I see it's from the same director as Kaleido Star, which is another show I really want to watch. Have I asked you if you have a MyAnimeList account? If not, it's similar to Backloggery, only it has a database of pretty much every anime and manga ever made. My favorite slice of life anime would probably have to be Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! DarkLink978 is also a big fan of that show, and he's typically not the kind of person to like slice of life anime. You should watch it if you haven't already!

Haven't really been playing a whole lot of things in general lately because I've been busy with moving but I could certainly give Street Fighter 2010 a go! I know it's supposed to be hard as balls, but I like a good challenge.

Hope you've had a good day, man.

I can't remember the first hack I ever played, but I was shocked to discover that it was even a thing! Mind you, this was back in the day when the only hacks that existed were the kinds that added penises, drugs, and Nazi paraphernalia (I can't believe it's spelled that way, either). Then, this little hack came along that was called Dragoon X Omega. New graphics, sure, but new palettes, new story, and NEW MUSIC!? HOW ARE THEY EVEN DOING THIS!? Blew my damn mind; I was legitimately amazed, even though it's maybe not as revolutionary as it once was. Now, there are hacks that outshine even the original games, and you can see hackers developing over time. Hell, I've had at least one of them contact me out of the blue to playtest some of their creations. And yes, we now have Kaizo bullshit and Crappypastas, but the regular market has a lot of garbage and bland mud spewing out these days, too; rom hacks are just a microcosm of what's irritatingly being called AAA these days.

Mario Maker is a damn complicated story, to be sure. There's a very enlightening Beta 64 video that shows that it was originally supposed to be a follow-up to Mario Paint (hence the screen cleaners, Undo Dog, etc.), but with every goddamn computer on Earth having MS Paint, it'd be obsolete right out the box. I'd wager that the Mario Maker part of it came in half because they don't know what the hell people want in a 2D Mario anymore and half because they wanted an excuse to issue more cease and desist letters to rom hackers worldwide, and this would give them some kind of excuse to do it.
