☆☆★★★ All scores are on Normal ("Easy"). "Beat" requirement is reaching a score of 400 in every game, since Gallery Corner items are unlocked by reaching a score of 400 and 800 in every game, in both Modern and Classic mode (difficulty doesn't matter). | Fuck Manhole Classic. The lack of animation frames means you effectively can't see what you're doing. Usually that isn't a problem in G&W games but it is here.

I don't know, maybe I'm just a wrinkly old man at heart, but GameShark save file recreation isn't my thing. It just wouldn't feel quite right to me, it wouldn't really feel legitimate to me. And again, the vast majority of games I had completed were games I really enjoyed anyway, so doing it over again in this case isn't really the worst thing to ever happen.

The Retrode sounds pretty neat though, that's something I'm gonna have to look into. If it can do full GBA support in the future(or maybe it already does because that video was 2019) especially, I'm sold.

Back to the PS3 though, I mean, it was really inevitable. I had already been thinking about getting a PS3 for its backwards compatibility(on top of, you know, PS3 games) and I knew that that meant I was going to be going through all my PS1 and PS2 games again. Look on the bright side, I can still play PS1 games and watch DVDs(I guess) on the PS2.

Oh dear... this image is worth a billion words...

That's really not so bad at all imo lol unless you're really elitist about it (which is fine too lol). I probably got really close to that time or something. c: Just keep practicing, runs are short. :P

6 hours? Why?? lol Is it doing some challenge in particular? Or do they just accept any time? If they take in any time, then this game probably got a ton of troll runs to have one this long...
I wouldn't really wanna be a speedrunner anyways. There's not really a point unless you aim for the best time, and I know confidently I've never have the best time. :P I do awful runs at the games I love the most. lol

Sweetie, that was sarcasm; I NEVER would've noticed that. Dammit, I knew I should've added the shifty eyes...

I don't know if I can point to any one aspect of it that makes it the best in my eyes, but I think as an entire package, and how it all fits together, it is; I didn't really hesitate to let it shove 3 off of its former throne as my favorite. I also think that 9 was a bit misguided and overrated, too; not bad, but built on a lot of false nostalgia. Like, "Mega Man 2 was the best; remember how HARD it was?" 2 was never that hard, and why does Proto Man take double damage if I had to pay extra for him? It was just a dollar, but still. And why the hell does his shield act the OPPOSITE from how it does in 7? Do we really just hate 7 that much? 7 was good.

I hadn't really noticed that it looked like a fangame, either, but I do also play a lot of Mega Man hacks, so maybe that's on me. A few of the stages were a bit lackluster - like Blade Man, whose stage made me wonder if it was just a variation of Scotland from DuckTales 2 - but the night sky of Nitro Man's stage, the weird technoscape of Sheep Man's stage, and the endless aquatic darkness of Pump Man's stage were just dripping with atmosphere. Precipitating, I guess. Rokko-Chan looks like a fangame (and it is), because it has rotation that's too smooth to exist on NES hardware.

Ummm... it's Mega Man. You have 8 different stages with wildly differing themes that don't have to be completed in any specific order. How does the soundtrack seem "disjointed"? Is this from the orchestral bullshit crowd? The group that prefers every video game soundtrack to be some bland movie background bullshit that few are going to notice and nobody's going to remember? Because I'll say it again: it's Mega Man. It also has some of the best damn tunes in the series; Silent Rain into Wily Stage Boss into Abandoned Memory was just NUTS. Heart of Enker is straight-up 8-bit DEATH METAL and it STILL isn't as rockin' as Get the Punk Out. More than even that, it just set the mood very well in almost every stage. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on 11; I thought it was good, and it was cool that they tried to do something new. They could've just put out another 8-bit retro title, and everyone would've lapped it up - myself included - but they decided to twist it in the right places.

I think part of that is that it's a human interest story, *gets so close you can count the veins in her eyes* and I am a heartless monster. That's only partially true; it applies mostly to fictional characters. Like, in Mother 3, when Hinawa dies, and I'm supposed to be sad, but I just don't give a fuck, or even at the end, when Lucas has to kill Claus, just... eh. But if I meet you in real life, and we have a meaningful conversation within 30 minutes, and you tell me about your struggles, I'm just going to melt for you; want to punch your troubles in the goddamn face until they're spitting teeth out their ears. Same with people I meet online, but it usually takes a bit longer. To me, HungryBox is just a fictional character, because I don't really know him. I know: my sense of empathy is a broken mess.

I was surprised how good and fresh it felt, despite having played through so many knockoffs, which were good in their own right. Well, some of them; wasn't a fan of MagRunner. And, of course, I'm going to be that asshole who says that the first Portal is better. I see what they were going for in Portal 2, with expanded areas, more backstory, and all that, but the first game had nice, controlled environments where you spent most of your time solving fully-developed puzzles and being berated by GLaDOS and most of the humor was dark and subtle. Portal 2 had some dark humor, but there was something very... Disneyesque about a lot of it. The way the modules' eyes moved around reminded me of one of those early 3D animation things from like 1994 or so, as did the "Don'tthinkaboutitdon'tthinkaboutitdon'tthinkaboutitdon'tthinkaboutit" following "THIS STATEMENT IS FALSE!" Now, the humor in the outer areas where you see the ruins of what might've been some old Disney theme park with a Carousel of Progress vibe to it had some great writing, but those areas also had some of the worst puzzles and conveyance. I'd finally figure out what to do, and it wouldn't work. Why? Because physics! Consistency is nice; I don't care about your technical achievements. Anyway, it wasn't bad, I just didn't like it as much as the first. What would I have done with a Portal 2? I don't know; I'm not even sure I would've made one. But yeah, the humor in the first game was best when it was just how VICIOUS GLaDOS could be; I don't care if the pie was a falsehood.

Not even 1ups from the shop. When I tried the run on GBA, whenever I lost all lives and saved the game and wanted more lives, I grinded for them in Astro Man's stage.
Also, my speed run time for Cave Story+ is much better, in case you're curious. Cave Story is definitely one of my absolute favorites, more son than most other games I've given 5 stars to. If I were to give it a numbered rating at this moment, I would call it my 4th favorite video game.

I used some save states, but I tried not to be too scummy and spam them in the middle of boss fights and stuff. I figured if the only "challenge" when I died was grinding enemies for rare 1up drops and energy refills, it wasn't worth the time and, more importantly, wouldn't really prove anything. I actually came close on the gba version as well a while back, making it to the Wily stage, but I just didn't have the patience for game overs and grinding nine more lives each time.

[Link] No, it doesn't really shock or bother me; I just couldn't resist. I went through a weeb phase, where I insisted on calling everything by its Japanese name, but eh. It's whateves now. But yeah, either that or the records room in some office building. Like, now that the office real estate market has been taken to slaughter, they're breaking into this now dust-filled archive of obsolete paper records to... sell PII to Google Spybot, maybe? Actually, yes. I declare this canon. πŸ“

Oh, I, uh... most definitely noticed all of that. But damn, I just cross-referenced it with the database from Rockman & Forte at Spriters-Resource, and they totally match up to the right numbers. 10 was met with a lukewarm reception, but honestly, I think it's the best one out of the Classic series. That said, I am very impressed with 11; I don't think it's going to be anyone's favorite, but Capcom could easily have tossed fans another 8-bit retro throwback, and they would've ravenously devoured it, myself included. But they didn't; they made something brand new and changed things up, but they learned from 8, and didn't change up the wrong things. My dumb ass was too oldschool to even think to remember the gear system, so I made the game WAAAAY harder on myself than I really needed to, but I'd definitely get behind the idea of a Mega Man 12. Or, you know, they could FIX THE FUCKING CLIFFHANGER WHERE THEY ENDED X8 BY MAKING X9.

With my last boss, I really couldn't tell; this one, I think knows how, because she'll usually say that she whoopsed. Of course, that becomes more embarrassing for the old boss, since the new one is not a native speaker of English. But yes, I think we should call this the 2020 Standard; it's a linguistic dumpster fire, so it's only appropriate.

Oh, and I did finally watch that HungryBox video; I didn't find it terribly gripping, but I did really feel for the guy by the end. I may or may not know what it's like to have everyone shit on you your whole life.

You're right, it is C3. I didn't even look it up, I remember by heart. Them SGB color palettes were pretty special, it's a shame Nintendo doesn't seem to wanna acknowledge it nowadays. I mean, come on, they totally coulda gave you the option to do SGB features fer Dream Land 2 in the Wii Kirby collection. M2 did for Castlevania and Contra collections at least.

Wow, really? You think you can do it? Extra game likes to throw lotsa Koozers at you at the most inopportune times, but if you can handle it, we'll be rootin' fer ya!

I fucking LOVE this theme; Mega Man is probably still my all-time favorite franchise, and the fact that they went with an alternate palette for the Blue Bomber, himself, is great. The lighting is beautiful, too.

No, I'm saving that for the next round; got a LOT of PC games to finish before I get there. Finally finished the Borderlands duandahalfology? so I'll be back to making progress again; 500 hours is a long fucking time, and I don't regret a second of it, but it'll be nice to see those numbers going down again. Ice Metal is really neat; they went for some unusual palette combinations, and as a result, for me, at least, they managed to capture that sense of strange mystery that the original game had. The final stretch is... sometimes, I wonder if it was even real, it's so off-the-wall. Stardust is a bit more low-key, but still a solid experience; it's like one of those really great Super Mario World hacks that doesn't do anything with ASM or custom tilesets, but still makes for a satisfying play.

I'll certainly entertain the possibility that it was just beaten into me at such an early age that it's part of my programming; it just looks... wrong without it. It certainly would've been at home, though; we didn't have much in the way of typing classes growing up, since nobody really had computers back then. That and as far as enforcing typing practices in the classroom, we need to work a lot harder on spelling, grammar, and homonyms; my bosses have been ADULTS who send me things like "Your right about that." They teach you that shit in second grade; get it together! Perhaps the worst I've seen was on a tow truck at a garage on the outskirts of town that said, "One tow and your hooked!" Not any worse than any other [Link] but someone PAID for that shit. I guess that's a good point, though; it would be the proverbial olive in the airline salads. Of course, I could be a bitter asshole about that and say what a waste a lot of other content is.

Man, ah loved Supuh Mario Brothers Deluxe, that was one of the games that put the Game Boy Color on da map. Love the lush color scheme and classic gameplay. Some people still prefer the NES versions of 1 and 2j and... I dunno, I might too, but Deluxe is still delicious. I enjoyed it so much I got it on the 3DS fer the heck of it and I can't decide whether I like that or the G&W Mario thing better.
