I agree about buying used systems. I'm nervous that I'll be the one to buy a used system, followed by a community of cockroaches swarming out. Okay, maybe not that dramatic, but it's already worn out and who knows how people take care of their hardware. I'm really delicate with my stuff, so there's that. But I can't say that I'd blame someone for paying for used systems if it's not something that'll be used a whole lot.

Uuuugh, as a collector, I would be pretty "MEH" about the cover being torn. I know that can seem so trivial to people just looking to own/play the game but I'd replace it too.

Otherwise, good deal! How do you feel about the Bayo trilogy for Switch?

Maybe not yet, but possibly soon with PSX's emphasis on VR games. However, I did not really look into most of them (that weren't basic PS4 games in a VR mode). I do enjoy mine, but probably most of that is because it's just about the only video game thing my whole family will do, so a lot of it for me is it's a way to spend time with them and laugh, like when we played Rush of Blood, the person playing freaked the hell out and backed up in the chair like two feet.

It's definitely a very cool piece of tech, but I feel I still don't have a very big library for it...but that'll probably change in the next year, again, because of Sony supporting the PSVR much more than the Vita at the same point in its life. I was a bit concerned that they might drop the PSVR like they did the Vita, but it seems like there actually is a fairly large base for PSVR, given it's probably the cheapest VR set on the market.

Personally, I'm waiting for the Obduction VR update to hit, and then I might get Statik...then...who knows. I've still got a few VR games I want to get through before I buy too much more for it, but we all know how that "promise" turns out in the end.

Ooo Insanity's Blade. That's a pretty fun game. I never it yet but I enjoyed what I played of it. Actually the guys who made it up live up near where I live, and the first time I played it they actually had it installed in a retro arcade cabinet. I was trying to remember the system it was on!

(Demon's Souls) It's VERY easy to do with self dupe method. Read more about it here: [Link]

Basically, I started on it last night and I'm about 52% done with the trophies for the game. I just got to beat the rest of the bosses, learn all spells/miracles, and I'll have another Platinum.

(Demon's Souls online) Yes and no. Online will help with item trading towards trophies obviously -- but one of the Colorless Demon's Soul is found 1-1 while in Pure Black World Tendency behind a locked gate. 3 Colorless Demon's Souls are needed to be traded Saint Urbain for a Recovery miracle. Once the online is gone, it'll be a lot tougher to get it.

Right now, I'm trying to get the Platinums for EU (Europe) and JP (Japan) versions of the game before the shutdown date.

Nah, since I've not opened mine up yet and I don't know anyone else who has one I don't know if it's bad or not, though since there were legal issues between SNK and the people who made them I assumed there might be some issues. And since they stopped production I guess it might be fairly expensive these days?

I haven't used the Kinivo, but in theory HDMI switchers should not reduce picture quality. The only thing that it'll do is increase the amount of time it takes to "handshake" with the TV. So, for example, you might notice it takes longer for the picture to come up after turning on your console, but there's no added lag or anything.

There are two main things to be aware of. One, in at least one example I've run across, a switcher doesn't correctly pass "Limited Range" color, so you need to set your systems to "Full Range" in the color settings (generally, for non-HDR stuff, it's better to use Limited Range unless it's not looking correct on your TV). The other thing to be aware of is that 4K content will NOT work with just any old HDMI switcher! Specifically look for switchers that say they support 4K at 60Hz, and 18Gbps of data! Also look for cables that claim the same - not all "High Speed" HDMI cables are guaranteed to pass 18Gbps (most won't, in my experience). Looking for "Premium Certified" HDMI cables increases the likelihood of it working, and it's not really any more expensive. Monoprice's "Premium Certified" have been working pretty well for me. 4K and HDR push HDMI to its very limits, and you can no longer say that any old HDMI cable is just the same as any other HDMI cable!

I'm going to begin working very soon on a video about gaming on 4K TVs and considerations just like these! My hope is to release it before Christmas, but we'll see. I'm planning to start writing it today, so thanks for the warm-up.

I'd transfer anything you want to hang on to - I'm not sure how long the batteries last in those. It's up to you in the end, though. I just figured I'd warn you.

Breeding and hatching eggs is how I got Mew from My Pokemon Ranch. It was a looooooooot of eggs. I'll impart some quick wisdom.

For Munchlax eggs, you'll need:
1. A Snorlax (either gender) holding a "Full Incense"
2. Either a Snorlax (opposite gender) or a Ditto (recommended)

I always try to trade a Ditto (or transfer one) so that it has a different OT (Original Trainer) than the trainer that currently owns it. This allows eggs to appear more frequently. You can do that with Snorlax as well, but having a Ditto allows it to be used with just about anything. It doesn't NEED to have a different OT, as you'll get eggs either way, but it's quicker if they're different.

As you're breeding from game-to-game, note that Nidorino, Nidorina, Nidoking, and Nidoqueen cannot breed. You'll need a Nidoran (either gender) and a Ditto in order to get more Nidoran; the gender will be random within the eggs.

For hatching, get a Pokemon with Flame Body or Magma Armor and put it in your party with the eggs; this will halve the time needed to hatch them.

That's pretty much the basics. With that, you should be able to get everything you want aside from legendaries. You'll still obviously have to level them up and evolve them, but that's pretty simple with Exp. Share in a high-level area. There's a lot more to it if you're looking for specific moves, natures, and stats, but you seem more interested in collecting than battling, so I'll skip over that for now. If you're ever interested, though, let me know or take a look here: [Link]

If you want full Pokedexes in each game, you can still trade eggs. I HAD full Pokedexes and one of every kind of Pokemon, including legendaries, in each of Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, SoulSilver, and HeartGold, at one time. 5 copies of each and every Pokemon. Admittedly, the GTS was still available for DS games back then, but I also did a loooooooot of transferring from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen/Colosseum/Gale of Darkness, and in order to get enough legendaries, I needed to restart those games a few times, which is why I stopped worrying about keeping a perfect game in each generation.

The internal battery dying in the GBC/GBA games helped force that decision, as keeping all of those in a game only makes it more painful when you turn on the game years later and find absolutely nothing, not even a save file, as what happened to me with Silver and later Sapphire. I haven't heard of this for the DS carts, so maybe they're safe, or maybe it's a matter of time. I don't know for sure.

If you don't care about legendaries, though, eggs are the big key. They're quicker to get than Honey Tree Hax, and when you hatch them in a game, that game is considered the original trainer as opposed to who created the egg. Trust me - swap Dittos with someone/yourself so that they don't have the same OT (Original Trainer), then breed for days. You can still catch everything you can if you'd rather, but eggs are much quicker and easier in most situations.

My four reasons for not worrying about old games are (1) the battery thing, (2) needing to restart older games to get enough legendaries to cover the newer games, (3) I want to complete the newer games faster, and (4) if I ever want to relive the game or play a Nuzlocke, it's cheaper to restart a game I already have instead of trying to find and purchase another copy (as you're aware in your current hunt). At that point, I just make sure that there's nothing I want to transfer up (shinies, legendaries for GTS trades, battle-ready Pokemon, etc.), then restart and explore Kanto/Johto/Hoenn/Sinnoh/Unova/Kalos once more.

Obviously, you have to do what you want to do, but eventually, you might have to transfer Pokemon (especially legendaries) up in order to complete the Pokedex. Regardless, trust me - making eggs is the way to go.

The nice thing is that if they ever DO remake DPPt, the new mechanics will carry over and it'll be easier to evolve Milotic.

Yeah - I soft-resetted at a tree a bunch of times before finding one in Diamond, then bred for eggs for Pearl and Platinum so I wouldn't have to keep trying. I did that a lot with the DS games. Milotic was one that I absolutely hated to evolve until they introduced the item that just allows you to evolve it without any of the cooking or anything. That was a godsend.

Ah yeah, that's a good point - I didn't think about the WiFi stuff. At least Platinum will be easier to complete. ...And HG/SS once you get them, I suppose.

Oh man, Munchlax was the worst thing to get in those games. I had forgotten about that until you mentioned it.

Looks like you're just missing HeartGold/SoulSilver and Black 2/White 2. That's still pretty good overall. I stopped going after every game after HeartGold/SoulSilver because completing each game with 600+ Pokemon to gather is a ton of work. I just stuck to one per series. I mean, sure, I didn't get to try out all of the starters that way, but now that I'm on the latest (and greatest, in my opinion), I've transferred everything that I didn't want to lose from the older GBA/DS/3DS games and have gotten the chance to restart them and try different teams. If you were to stick to one per series as well, that would cut down on the amount of stuff you have to do to catch up. I'd still keep Platinum, though, as that's different enough from Diamond/Pearl that it warrants playing.

If it helps, and if you're willing to do it this way, you're at the point where you can trade/transfer everything from one game to the next. That way, anything that's missing after your initial romp can be moved over and bred so that you can finish off your Pokedex. I've done that for every generation from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum onward. I still have Pokemon from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald on my copy of Moon because they just keep getting transferred up.
Great Goddess, may you watch over and protect this poor child! Amen!
