I'll accept whenever I sign back in; I just got my phone lines back after having them ripped out of the house by some gale force winds.

Well, I'm not going to recommend anything as obvious as a Final Fantasy, because I'm sure you know all about them already, but I do see that you liked Chrono Cross better than Chrono Trigger, so our tastes might be similar. To get you started, I'll give you some of my favorite, at least somewhat obscure SNES RPGs:
Live-A-Live (my favorite game of all time)
Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinestrals (avoid the DS remake)
Mystic Ark
Rudra no Hihou
Shin Megami Tensei 2

Also, if you're looking for something on the weirder side, I'd recommend OFF, which is a game made in RPG Maker that you can download for free. It has the same basic battle system as Final Fantasy 6, and it's quite an experience. The battles don't get any harder as the game gets on, but instead, the increase in challenge comes from figuring out just what's going on. If you want something even weirder, there's another RPG Maker game I can recommend called Space Funeral, which has a sequel called Earth Birth. Earth Birth was made by a different person, but the creator of the original liked it so much that he officially declared it to be canon. I have a few others, but I haven't actually played them, so I don't know how they are.

Well, my age isn't something with which I part very readily, but let us say that my twenties have long since come and gone. I did go through a phase like that many years ago, because video games weren't "cool" yet, so I just stopped playing for quite a few years. Right after that, I met my significant other, so I was spending all of my time with her, and didn't have time for video games. We've been living together a long time by now, and she's into them, too, so we both play. I do feel a little overwhelmed right now, though, because I'm getting back into PC games, and the last time I'd purchased a new one before about 2 years ago was... I don't know... Duke Nukem 3D? Blood, maybe? I have about a quarter-century of PC games to catch up on. Luckily, there aren't that many new games that interest me in the slightest, so at least I have time to catch up.

The secret is that I'm only really playing the top 4 or 5 games at a time. The rest of the time they're just... reminders. Not me bing lazy at all

Oh, I actually got Anachronox on GOG; I don't buy from Steam unless it's not available anywhere else, because I'm big on DRM-free games. Anyway, I'm MotherKojiro on Steam, but I'm rarely on, and I don't ever use the chat function, so you're free to add me, but you probably won't really see me around, and my library is pretty small.

Well, I know a ton of RPGs. Like, enough that I wrote an entire miniseries of articles about JRPGs. It's kind of a big question to ask me that, so are you looking for any system in particular? Most of my favorites are on the SNES, but your page looks like you don't have that particular system.

As for games, they have been a big part of my life for over 30 years; that's why I have so much of it despite its size. The only hobby I enjoy more is cooking/baking, but you can only make so much food, so playing takes up a bigger part of my time. When I was 30 years younger, it was an escape from the soul-crushing reality that I called a life, and I've just stuck with it ever since. Of course, when someone needs me, that all gets put aside, but I spend a lot of my spare time buried in a game.

Thanks! I found a look that I really liked, and just ran with it!

The only RPG I've played at all this year is Sacred Gold, though I'm not sure how much I'd classify it that way; it has leveling, and you allocate points to your stats and passive skills each time you level up, but it plays mostly like an open-world Diablo. There is a main quest and plot to follow, but you're free to explore most, if not all, of the world whenever and however you like.

If you're talking about JRPGs, specifically, I finished a hack of Final Fantasy 3 called Maeson Mix on New Year's Eve. I would highly recommend it, if you're open to the idea of playing hacks, and liked the original Final Fantasy 3, or even just JRPGs with big class systems. Before that? Jeez, I think the last JRPG I played before that was Anachronox last July, which was also pretty good; the magic system is seemingly impossible to figure out, but it's a pretty good Cyberpunk RPG, and a great satire on life, the universe, and everything. Also, if you ever wanted to know what life was like in the mid-'90s, that's the best time capsule I can offer.

I have plenty of RPGs that I played ages ago that I can recommend, if you're interested, but I'm not playing all that many these days.

Apocalypse can stun lock you, which is very mean. Just make sure to avoid his major fists and do as much damage as possible and he should go down in a hurry. Well, I'm playing the PS1 version, so I think the only characters to unlock are from codes. Unfortunately, they do not stay unlocked. I guess they have different endings, so I'd probably have to beat it with them as well...
