Pretty excited for this one! I'm trying to figure out why the game feels so shallow, and I think it has to do with the 4:3 to 16:9 shift.

☆☆★★★ Definitely a little rough around the edges. There's a lot of coin farming to be done and not quite a stable enough mini game set to do it. Songs are good. Some of the stage designs are fun. The game is really lacking polish in some areas, though.

☆☆★★★ This game is really ambitious and pretty clever. Kind of reminds me of the aspirations of Karateka. Quite a remarkable open stage in Story mode, but the load times are irritating. Oh, and getting the good ending is pretty obnoxious. Picked up at Luna Games with a birthday gift certificate from Jevisenespoir Q1 '22. Forgot I didn't have this yet!

A little different from the other Tokimeki Puzzle Dama Taisen game; this one has cursor-based movement and you can hold one piece at a time. The chain mechanics and set up get a little more ridiculous. Picked up at the Retro City Festival '19. I had passed by these games a few times before, but figured my Tokimeki collection can expand now.

This experience needs some quality of life. Why is this game so punishing? Need to get Master on the 4 stages for True End.

Updated about 2 years ago

☆☆☆★★ There are a few things that I feel would improve the experience: 1. Clear indication of where leaks have sprung. 2. Fixing piece alignment so they don't taper on the ground graphically. 3. Consistent piece width; why Os are two wide and T/L/Is are 3 is beyond me. 4. Rebalance Earthquake and Drain penalties. The player lacks corrective agency. 5. HELPFUL cam angles. I was hanging out with DLEW, and he was offloading a bunch of his collection in preparation for his next move. He gave me th

A simple gameplay cycle; Travel to planet, catch fish, use fish as bait to attract new fish, return to base to sell fish, buy upgrades/perks, repeat. Definitely fun due to the reel and waggle gimmicks, and relaxing due to the repetitive nature of fishing and completing the encyclopedia. Music is pretty good and has a wide range. Saw an Ape Escape 2 enemy cameo early on; I wonder if other familiar faces will appear.

Yeah, it's been a fully solo effort minus having a few other people test it. I've been intending for it to be released for a few weeks now, but I keep finding more errors to fix. I'm starting to appreciate why the first Pokemon game had so many bugs.

I think the few years I was into gacha games really ate up my patience with daily task driven gameplay.

So the retro fair is mainly a place to find some pretty rare stuff huh? I'm not particular crazy about buying games way above the original price, but it might be interesting to check out.

Among the games I have been playing the last few months, I've been enjoying Dragon Quest 6 the most. Granted, my view might be biased, since I had low expectations of the game based off online reviews.

With the recent announcement of the e-shop closing for 3DS and Wii U, I've been looking through the catalog to see if there's any thing that catches my eye, or anything that might be cheaper than buying out of stock physical copies. Did you have any games on the 3DS / Wii U that you enjoyed and would recommend?

For all accounts he is self taught and has been in Mr Bungle since a very young age (he was 23 when Mr Bungle signed with WB in'91 but they've been making records even before that). He's fucking hilarious, too. [Link] He's made hundreds of records in dozens of projects and is the most versatile singer I've ever heard... he can manage everything. He currently owns independent label Ipecac which has a lot of avantgarde artists on it.

Yeah, I can definitely confirm that Tomba is a good time. But the thing with it is that it starts out just throwing lives at you, but then those dry up for good at some point. They're awarded at certain point intervals that get less and less frequent, and eventually stop. Generally speaking, it's not a particularly challenging game, but there are some screens with death pits where it's easy to lose like 3+ lives in a row if you're having trouble with a jump. So, if you go into it, I'd just either play with an emulator and save states, or be prepared to load a save if you lose too many lives in a row.

Elden Ring's good, but I'm also really feeling like I want to just be done with it. It's such a long game, and anyone with a completionist playstyle will definitely find themselves overlevelled.

Stardew Valley IS such a relaxing game but honestly, it is one of my favorites of all time I think it's just so adorable and customizable and has so many character storylines that are interesting. I can't wait for the developers to come out with their new game, Haunted Chocolatier. That one also looks fun

I haven't been too bad. How have things been on your end?

Yeah, this is my first animal crossing, and will likely be my last due to the time sinking nature of the game. I can't say it's really my type of game, though I can definitely see the appeal in the game.

I saw from your backlog that you went to a retro expo. What kind of event is that? If I knew there was something in the vicinity, I may have checked it out.

Been busy doing a ton of things that don't involve beating games. I've been working on a guide for the PS1 / Gameboy Monster Raising RPG Monster Race, which is taking way longer than I expected. Clearly trying to write guides for games that resemble Pokemon is a mistake, there's just so much content to cover.

I've also been putting the finishing touches on my own game, which has also taken a ridiculous amount of time, probably because it's also a Pokemon-style game. [Link] No wonder I haven't had time to start Legends Arceus yet. And now there's Gen 9 coming out? I've gained a bit more respect for the Pokemon company, that's for sure.
