SOMA is basically if Maridia from Super Metroid was made into a Horror game. [Link] Oh. Well, I don't think I'm on board with this Justine thing anymore; I'm am most assuredly not down with having my save file eaten. Of course, I'd probably just out-bitch it, and root out the save file myself to back it up. Unless it decides to out-bitch me by pulling an Undertale.

Oh yes, Midna's true form is really something, isn't she? My sister's wedding was Zelda-themed, and her husband's younger brother's significant other dressed as her; she was appropriately stunning. Said brother went all out, too, dressing in a very impressive Skull Kid costume; you couldn't even tell it was him. Midna's probably my favorite companion, too, but only because she's the only one I can think of who wasn't FUCKING AWFUL. She was certainly less obnoxious than the others. I don't really count the boat from Wind Waker, because it's not with you all the time. Oh, unless I can count Sahasrahla from A Link to the Past; he's around in the form of Telepathy Tiles, which are easily ignored. I don't know why they even have companions; it's generally agreed that they're a bad idea.

Well, to be honest, I used to be the same way; it's part of that attitude that comes with age, I suppose. [Link] Of course, getting into PC games pushed me even further in that direction; thanks to all of the ridiculous sales pretty much everywhere, I have so damn many games that I don't even know what to do. It's not like when you only have a dozen, and only the truly awful ones get passed over. I'll admit it: I'm a little spoiled, at least until I catch up on about 30 years of games I'd missed. I'm trying to think of something that I really started to enjoy way too many hours in, and I can only think of Chrono Cross, but that had an excellent start, too.

I love your new avatar; she's so cool!

I think the Amnesia titles are the only games I haven't played by them, but I really enjoyed the 2 Penumbra games (there's a third one, but it's basically P0rtal without the hook) and SOMA was a damn masterpiece, so I think I'll like it. I'd also already had the original Amnesia, but they weren't giving away A Machine for Pigs on its own. I haven't heard of Justine, though; I'll have to check that out. I think my next Horror game is going to be Layers of Fear, though, and that'll probably be after the Kyrandia trilogy and another round of Sacred.

I've played most Zelda games (at least, the console ones), and of the ones I've finished (which is most of the ones I've played), it is the absolute worst, hands down. Maybe even worse than ones that I abandoned, like the Oracles (too much random drop bullshit and too many things to keep track of) and Minish Cap (fuck that fucking random fucking figurine bullshit. fuck.), because they at least got the basic controls right, and didn't have the WORST companion in probably anything I've ever played. It wasn't even all that pretty, either; Farron Woods was, but the rest of the game was just bog standard, visually.

Mmmm... Yeah, I don't know that "It gets really good 30 hours in" is a point in its favor for me. As cynical as I am about games that dazzle you in the first hour, then take a 60-hour vacation in the middle, I think I prefer ones that start off that way, so that I at least don't sink countless hours into it, hoping it gets better. I mean, sometimes, it really does, but we can't all be Chrono Cross. But especially with the battle system; the battle system is the bulk of what you're going to be working with in any JRPG, and if that's bad, you're going to have a tedious shitfest, no matter how pretty it is or how good the story. I used to be like that, but anymore, I have so damn many new games - let alone the ones that I'd love to replay - that if I don't like it after a while, I just drop the damn thing to move on to the myriad other things down the road.

Haha, nice job clearing A Machine for Pigs. I'm going to guess based on your progress updates, it wasn't as scary as expected? More tedious? Would you acknowledge the mixed reviews on the store page or not? Just saying this to get a heads up on what I'm up against. I mean, I have peers on the Steam BL Discord server veto critical reviews on the game.

I wonder how many other people on my multitap got this game. I got it too, but yet to play it. And I love how I got both Amnesia games for free... On separate dates (Got TDD like 2 1/2 years ago). Though, I may have other plans; I was recently thinking of a major BL update soon. I'll talk about that later

I see you also scored the Amnesia games for free; nice!

Honestly, I'm looking forward to hearing what I think about it, too. I remember getting super excited for Skyward Sword, especially when I came downstairs at quarter of 6 for work one morning, and my lady was still playing it; she'd forgotten to go to bed. Twice in a row. Then, I hated it. On the other hand, I was super excited for Twilight Princess, too, and I mostly enjoyed it a great deal. Fucking minigames, though. Then, there was Wind Waker, which I was excited to play long after I'd already beaten Twilight Princess, hated it and rage quit at the first dungeon because I hate stealth (especially in games that are poorly built for it), then tried it again months later, and it became my favorite Zelda ever, dethroning long-running champ, Adventure of Link. There's just really no telling how I'll feel about Breath of the Wild.

I once thought I might like Xenoblade Chronicles, and seeing the battle system IMMEDIATELY turned me off. Every time I think about changing my mind, I hear about the nightmare that is its tangled mass of sidequests that take up 85% of the content of the entire game. It seems like all of the Xeno games have a fatal flaw preventing me from playing them. Xenogears has a camera that makes it absolutely unplayable to someone like me, who can't process 3-dimensional space all that well. Xenosaga is unnecessarily long, built on an uninteresting premise, and padded like a menstruating fire hose. I'm starting to experience that with Sacred Gold right now, actually. This is my third time through, and most certainly the first time I found a weird Stonehenge tucked into a little corner that has a magical monolith covered in runes that generates killer bunnies whenever you touch it. Pretty sure I would've remembered something like that. That's not a bad thing, either, since there are 8 playable characters, and my OCD won't let me go until I've beaten it with each of them.

ah, I've just perused your top rated games. You've completed a lot of them. But I'm easily impressed bc personally I suck at platformers ^^" Still it had to take lots of time and skill I think.
